Hybrid Geothermal–Carbon Capture System for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Protection

Project Type: Self-Initiated

Project Description

This project presents the design of a Hybrid Geothermal–Carbon Capture System that integrates geothermal energy with CO2 capture using a water-based absorption process. The system utilizes subsurface geothermal resources to provide renewable thermal energy while supporting CO2 capture and long-term storage in depleted reservoirs. A laboratory-scale packed-bed absorber prototype was developed to evaluate stable gas–liquid interaction and operational feasibility under ambient conditions. The multidisciplinary design combines geological modeling, reservoir simulation, mechanical design, and chemical absorption analysis to demonstrate a scalable and sustainable approach for reducing CO2 emissions while maintaining reliable energy production.
