Term 252

Extraction and separation of materials from red mud and reuse of raw materials

Project Type: Self-Initiated

Project Description

The incorporation of red mud successfully enhances the high-temperature performance of bitumen, offering a sustainable and practical pathway for its utilization in asphalt binders. Specifically, applying a 10% red mud loading increases the base bitumen's high-performance grade (PG) temperature from 64.5°C to 73.3°C, successfully achieving a PG 70 grade. Ultimately, this eco-friendly modification delivers a 14.5% performance gain in high-temperature stiffness, demonstrating red mud's viability as a highly effective asphalt modifier.
