Design of a Hybrid Hospital Oxygen Supply System Using Polymeric Hollow-Fiber Membranes Integrated with Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA)
Project Type: Self-Initiated
Project Description
This project presents the design of a simulation-based hospital oxygen supply system focused on improving reliability, scalability, and operational resilience. The system employs a hybrid membrane and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process modeled in Aspen Plus, where ambient air is compressed, pre-enriched using polymeric membranes, and further purified to produce medical-grade oxygen, supported by buffer storage and backup capacity. In addition, demand modeling, stochastic simulation, and reliability analysis are integrated with a digital monitoring framework to evaluate performance under normal and peak conditions, enabling informed operational decisions through real-time tracking, alarms, and planning insights.
